2016 May Day Committee Meeting

This meeting is opened to anyone or organization who wants to participate in constructive discussions regarding the theme, speakers and other details of the 2016 Edmonton May Day events.

The focus of this meeting is less on logistics and more on the "why" of May Day, especially a discussion of the current context for workers in Alberta (and beyond). We will start with short presentations on the history of may day, the recent mobilizations in Edmonton, and some of main issues/struggles/flashpoints that will be happening in 2016 then move into discussion about the new context for organizing/mobilizing post elections as well as a bunch of anniversaries that will be celebrated this year (30 anniversary of summer of 86 strikes, 40 anniversary of AUPE and changes coming to public sector right to strike, 50 anniversary of the seasonal agricultural workers program--a migrants coalition will be holding events around this). Hope you can make it!
